It began the way it probably does for a lot of families: a weekend of going through closets, the garage, and rooms we hadn't really looked at in years. What we found surprised us — tools we never used, furniture in great shape, toys and gear our kids had long outgrown. None of it was junk. It just wasn't ours anymore.
That got us thinking. If our house had this much still-good stuff sitting around, chances are our neighbors did too. Multiply that across a whole community, and there's a lot of value just sitting in garages, closets, and storage units — waiting for someone who could actually use it.
At the same time, our son kept asking how he could start earning his own money. So we put the two together. He helps list items, works with neighbors and friends to find things worth reselling, and is learning what it means to run a small business from the ground up — one listing, one pickup, one sale at a time.
That's how Rancho Resale and Recycle was born.
We help people turn items they no longer need into cash — and help others find quality secondhand goods at a fraction of retail price. Most of what we sell is gently used, sometimes barely used, and occasionally still brand new. It just needed a second chance to find the right home.
We also offer junk removal services, because we know not everything cluttering up a garage or storage space is easy to sell yourself. The difference with us: before anything gets hauled away, we look for what can be cleaned up, resold, or given a second life. What can't be resold, we make sure gets recycled or disposed of responsibly. Less waste, more value — for you and for the community.
This isn't a big-box operation. It's a family business, built on the idea that good, usable items shouldn't end up forgotten in a garage or sitting in a landfill when someone nearby could actually use them. Every item we take in gets a second look and a fair chance before it gets tossed.
For us, it's also about teaching the next generation — showing our son what it means to build something real, work hard, and take pride in doing right by customers and neighbors alike.
